Louis Licastro, 93, had just finished breakfast at the U.S. Army airfield near Pearl Harbor when the Glen Ellyn veteran spotted the Japanese fighter planes on Dec. 7, 1941. GEL PEOPLE: Teacher writes detective story, includes local history

After living in Glen Ellyn, graduating from Glenbard West High School and raising her children in the village, Nancy McCaffrey wanted to write a book about the “charming town.” McCaffrey, who’s also a teacher at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, wrote the book with her students in mind, as well as her own interests. College of DuPage officials have called a special meeting of the board of trustees for Wednesday night to formally consider disconnecting the college's 273-acre campus from Glen Ellyn.
