GEL HEALTH: Pop Goes Our Kids

This past weekend, my wife and daughter attended a youth group retreat among members from our community.

Overall their first camp experience was outstanding and created lasting memories and friendships for both of them. They both want to return in the future. The only observation that raised a bit of concern was the camp's unlimited supply of pop (aka - sugar water). In addition to the regular assortment of pop, the camp included Mountain Dew as one of the drink options (the equivalent of "pop on steroids" for young children based on its caffeine content).

Improved passenger and freight train flow, an enhanced safety design, and a reduced environmental footprint are among the benefits of the Metra Union Pacific west line improvement project. Work at the stations is scheduled to begin in March and conclude near the end of 2010. Metra service will not be disrupted while the project is under way.
