Susan Werner and John Gorka at the MAC March 26

Singer/songwriters Susan Werner and John Gorka share the bill at an 8 p.m. performance Friday, March 26, at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Chicago-based Werner is a mainstay of contemporary folk music and has recorded nine albums, ranging from the traditional folk sound to cabaret jazz and pop. Her latest album, “Classics,” features new arrangements of songs from the 1960s and 1970s by various artists, including Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney and Marvin Gaye.

With a music career born in a Pennsylvania coffee house, Gorka recorded his first album in 1987 and has been penned by Rolling Stone as “the preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement.” He has toured with Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Tickets are $32 for adults, $30 for seniors and $22 for College of DuPage students and youth.
