The Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society presents The Pig Party at the Park, Family Pig Roast on Sunday, September 13th at Lake Ellyn Park in Glen Ellyn from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. (Lenox Road and Linden Street).

ONLINE TICKET SALES FOR THIS EVENT HAVE ENDED. Tickets can be purchased at the event.

The event will feature Elevation, a U2 Tribute band. Also featured is the famous Uncle Bub's BBQ Pig Roast.

MAC Receives Grant for Native American Dance Program

July 22, 2009 – The McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, received a $3,400 Arts Midwest’s Performing Arts Fund grant to support a Native American dance ensemble visit this fall.

The Kevin Locke Native Dance Ensemble will perform “The Drum is the Thunder, the Flute is the Wind” at the MAC at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. The ensemble will also perform Monday, Nov. 9, for students in Pre-K to 8th grade as part of the MAC’s SchoolStage program.

The League won Best of Parade for the 2009 Glen Ellyn 4th of July Parade.

The three-tiered cake they designed and built honored the 175th Anniversary of Glen Ellyn and the 200th Birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Great Cardboard Boat Regatta Returns to Glen Ellyn's Lake Ellyn Park

Cardboard Boat Regatta Trojan Horse Entry

The Great Cardboard Boat Regatta takes place on Saturday, June 27 at 12 noon at Lake Ellyn Park. The event coincides with the Picnic in the Park.

Preview creative boats and floating objects d'arte starting at 10am as hundreds of Glen Ellyn residents vie for bragging rights for this year's best looking boat, best dressed crew, best sinking, and best race time just to name a few of the awards handed out.

Cheer on young and old as they try to outpaddle the disintegrating cardboard material that keeps the sailors afloat during the race.

Here are locations where you can join her:

Friday, June 26th - Meet at 8:30am at intersection of Ridge Rd & Burnham Ave in Lansing, IL. Run north on Torrence Ave (State Rd 83) through south Chicago to end at South Shore Cultural Center. We will be running north on Torrence Ave., then hop over to Colfax Ave, then north on Coles Ave to end up at South Shore Cultural Center. Total 15.3 miles.

GEL Update: 9th Annual Hoof It For Hephzibah Family 5K Fun Run

The 9th Annual Hoof It For Hephzibah Family 5K Fun Run was a great success. 533 racers and walkers participated in the Memorial Day event and over $25,000 was raised. This was an increase from previous years in both attendance and money raised. View photos here.

Hoof-It for Hephzibah Memorial Day 5K Run & Kid’s Race

Kick off your summer at the 9th Annual Hoof It for Hephzibah – a timed, 5K run and Kid’s Race to benefit Hephzibah Children’s Association.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, Hoof It will start and finish at Newton Park (Fairview between Park Blvd. and Bryant). The all-age 5K fun race/family walk will start at 8:00 a.m. The Kids’ Race will begin at 9:30 and will include both a 50 meter dash and a ¼ mile run for children 12 and under.
