If you missed last week's tour of four incredible Glen Ellyn homes on this year's Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society Housewalk, you can now take a virtual tour through them.

According to Laura Eskilson, GEIWS organizer, this year's Housewalk raised close to $50,000. "Last year we blew it out and raised over $84,000," Eskilson said. "It was the first year we did our tour guide booklet with ads. This year we were down about 50% in the amount of money raised in ads."

GEL NEWS: Glen Ellyn Police Department Investigating Car Burglaries

The Glen Ellyn Police Department is investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that have occurred in the Village. In all cases the vehicles were left unlocked by the owners, and the burglaries occurred during the night. Small electronics, purses and change are among the property taken from these vehicles. In one case the owner left the keys in the vehicle and it was stolen.

During the month of April, 18 car burglaries have been reported to police.

The Glen Ellyn Police Department encourages people to remove valuables and lock their unattended vehicles.

"Summer learning loss" results in an academic setback for some children that will take weeks, and in some cases months, to remedy in the fall. This problem can be exacerbated in the case where English is not the primary language spoken at home.

To combat that problem, the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center will once again offer a summer program – free to children of low income families. The five week program, offered from June 22 through July 24, will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
