Here are the final election results from the DuPage Election Commission.

The results won't be certified for 2 weeks until all overseas and military votes have been compiled with precinct totals. We congratulate the winners in each respective race and thank all the other candidates who spent time, money and energy campaigning to serve our community. We especially acknowledge and thank those candidates who have dedicated their time serving our community in prior leadership positions.

The Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Committee is meeting to organize this year's celebration, and needs volunteer help. Be part of the all-volunteer, citizen-based group, which plans and executes the entire celebration: the Picnic in the Park, 4th of July Parade, and Fireworks at Lake Ellyn. These festivities require the assistance of over 100 volunteers.

GEL BIG PICTURE: Glen Ellyn Park District Responds to Open Letter

In March of 2006, a Park District $12.5 million referendum failed to achieve a successful vote from the residents for land acquisition; building a new Main Street Recreation Center with increased program rooms and a larger gymnasium to accommodate the growing recreational needs in our community; renovate the Lake Ellyn Boat House and construct new washrooms and shelter at Ackerman Park. 9,387 votes were cast with a majority voting against this referendum.
