The event honored the 175th Anniversary of the Village of Glen Ellyn, the 200th Birthday of Abraham Lincoln, and the 40th Anniversary of the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. It brought over 140 guests back to the year 1834 when Glen Ellyn was established.

Just about every mom in Glen Ellyn, every year, is faced with the daunting task of what to do for their child’s birthday party. Do you celebrate with friends, family or both? Stay at the house or rent someplace?

Fortunately for Glen Ellyn residents, there is a plethora of places and ideas to choose from. If the Glen Ellyn ideas do not meet your need, you can also mix it up by bringing in outside talent or go to a nearby facility.

Founders Ball Features Once in a Lifetime Experiences

Saturday, February 28, 2009, is the date of the Founders Ball presented by the Glen Ellyn Historical Society to honor the 175th Anniversary of the Village of Glen Ellyn, the 200th Birthday of Abraham Lincoln, and the 40th Anniversary of the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. This historic event begins at 6:30 P.M. The Ball will be held at the Crowne Plaza, 1250 Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn.

"As I look back over the last year," she began, "I am amazed at the number of goals and objectives accomplished by staff and the Village Board."

"Hiring an experienced Village Manager to oversee daily operations and lead the strategic planning for Glen Ellyn's future was a top priority," Hase said. Following an extensive national search process, Steve Jones was selected as the best fit.

L.A. Theatre Works, the foremost radio theater company in the country, will recreate broadcasts of H.G. Wells’ “War of the Worlds” and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Lost World” to the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 21.

Directed by actor John de Lancie, who played “Q” on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” Wells’ “War of the Worlds” and Doyle’s “The Lost World” give audiences not only two masterpieces of science fiction and adventure, but the radio magic behind their original broadcasts.

Several hundred people attended Saturday's Garage Party and enjoyed food from various Glen Ellyn restaurants, live music from Local Favorite, and mingling with friends. Presented by Bridge Builders at the Gearhead Garage in downtown Glen Ellyn, the Garage Party fundraiser served as a benefit for the Auto Donation Program of Bridge Communities.
