David Garmoe's 26-year career in the fire service ended with handcuffs Friday as the onetime lieutenant was sentenced to five years in prison for embezzling $262,000 from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company.

GEL WOW: Illinois Chaplain Finds $1M Powerball Ticket in Desk

A retired chaplain in Illinois found a $1 million winning lottery ticket when he was cleaning his desk, two months after the winning numbers were announced.

Ron Yurcus of Glen Ellyn, Ill. said he doesn’t usually buy lottery tickets.

“Occasionally while I buy gas, if the [lottery] prize is higher, I’ll buy one or two tickets,” Yurcus, 68, said.

Two months ago the fate of a jazz festival in downtown Glen Ellyn was as up in the air as George Clooney with the dissolution of the founding partnership between The McAninch Arts Center, WDCB Public Radio, White Space Design and The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce.

Today, the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce announced an impressive lineup for the newly retitled 2012 Jazz in Glen Ellyn for the Saturday, July 14th Glen Ellyn Chamber sponsored event.

The community plant exchange will take place at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn located at 550 North Main Street, just north of downtown Glen Ellyn.

For the past five years, a partnership including The McAninch Arts Center, WDCB Public Radio, White Space Design and The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce has come together to present a day of great Chicago jazz, fine food and local brews in downtown Glen Ellyn.

With origins dating back to 1892, McChesney & Miller was honored in 1984 by the Illinois State Historical Society as DuPage County's oldest grocery market. A plaque honoring the store can still be found on Main Street next to The Book Store. Read More

Gratto's Restaurant on the corner of Duane and Main Streets in downtown Glen Ellyn to close and new restaurant to open. The name of the new restaurant is Flour + Wine.

This restaurant location has witnessed multiple restaurant concepts fail over the past decade since the closing of Glen Ellyn Brewery over 10 years ago.
