Many Glen Ellyn residents are unfamiliar with the development of the Glen Ellyn Park District's Ackerman Park Fieldhouse project or the detailed results of the GEPD 2005 survey.

GEL ELECTION PROFILE: Glen Ellyn Park District Question for Incombents

Question for the Incombents:How did you vote for the new Ackerman Sports Complex that is currently under construction at Ackerman Woods?

Ron Aubrey: I voted in favor of placing this project, along with open space land acquisition and the renovation of the 1920’s era Main Street Rec Center as part of an overall $11.9 million referendum measure on the November 2006 ballot for voter consideration. 6,679 residents voted YES in support of the referendum, while 5,679 were opposed.

Question 1: What motivated you to seek a seat on the Park District Board?

Ron Aubrey: Initially, I finally had some time to volunteer and was looking to serve our children, families and the community in some special way. I have served as Park District Commissioner for over 5 years now and there are still some things left to do, such as completing:
• Ackerman Sports Complex
• Churchill Nature Center museum w/ new restoration and educational programs
• Safety Village
• Madonnari on Main 3D sidewalk chalk art festival

In the April election, residents will have a chance to select four (4) new board members for the Glen Ellyn Park District Board.

The Park District is celebrating 85 years of meeting that mission and will continue to provide excellence in our programs and our parks for future generations.
