Special Village Board Meeting

On Monday, March 30th at 8:00pm, the Village Board will hold a special board meeting to vote on a 1% increase in Sales Tax for Glen Ellyn. Meeting is held at the Civic Center and is open to the public.

GEL UPDATE: Village Budget Cuts in Special Projects Fund; and Proposed Sales Tax Increase

On Monday the Village Board approved cuts in Special Programs Fund (SPF).

We wanted to clarify how these cuts fit into the broader budget issues and the proposed sales tax increase. According to village manager Steve Jones, these cuts are unrelated to the proposed Home Rule Sales Tax (HRST) increase and the current General Fund budget deficit.

GEL SHARE: Home Rule Sales Tax Decision to be Made on March 30

Last Tuesday, Village officials agreed to change the final read of the proposed Home Rule Sales Tax from Monday, March 23 to Monday, March 30 to accommodate one trustee who will be absent at the March 23rd meeting.

The Village Board is interested in having all elected officials participate in the vote on the home rule sales tax. Since one Trustee was going to be absent from the March 23 meeting, Village President Vicky Hase publicly asked Trustees at the workshop meeting of March 16 if they were available for a March 30 meeting. All trustees present indicated they were available.
