The Glen Ellyn Park District (GEPD) posted an overview of the Ackerman Park fieldhouse project on their website in response to our open letter from March 27, 2009 to the Executive Director and board. The overview answers some questions, but many key questions remain unanswered. They are listed below.

- the referendum funding request for this project was $7.4 million (the project total cost is close to $9.2 million)

GEL BIG PICTURE: Glen Ellyn Park District Responds to Open Letter

In March of 2006, a Park District $12.5 million referendum failed to achieve a successful vote from the residents for land acquisition; building a new Main Street Recreation Center with increased program rooms and a larger gymnasium to accommodate the growing recreational needs in our community; renovate the Lake Ellyn Boat House and construct new washrooms and shelter at Ackerman Park. 9,387 votes were cast with a majority voting against this referendum.
